1.    Kimpton Fitzroy (Russell Square, WC1B)

Occupying a full block along the eastern side of Russell Square in Bloomsbury, this landmark building combines beautiful 19th century heritage with contemporary interiors and modern amenities.

With its private entrance, ornate coffered ceiling, a full wall of windows, and a mezzanine gallery overlooking the main space, the Grade II listed ballroom can accommodate intimate gatherings of 15 or grand celebrations of up to 200 seated guests. Adjacent to the ballroom is Palm Court, a romantic and light-filled reception area with a Champagne bar, an outdoor terrace, an indoor winter garden, and four dramatic floor-to-ceiling indoor trees.

To make the most of the hotel’s beautiful layout, plan your timeline to transition guests seamlessly from Palm Court to the ballroom. The natural light and soft greenery create a lovely atmosphere for a Champagne welcome before revealing the splendour of your main celebration. The hotel’s iconic Pyrenean marble staircase, Victorian façade, and nearby Russell Square Garden offer even more photo opportunities.

2.    One Marylebone (Marylebone Road, NW1)

Conveniently located opposite Great Portland Street underground station, and only 10 mins by taxi from King’s Cross, Euston and Paddington train stations, One Marylebone has two licensed wedding spaces, the East Gallery and the Soane Hall. Nestled on the west side of the building, there’s also God’s Garden, an outdoor space perfect for summer wedding receptions of 80-120 guests.

As the venue’s biggest event space, the Soane Hall boasts an impressive ceiling height of over 27 feet and masses of character thanks to its stunning mosaics and stained-glass windows. Often described as London's ultimate banquet hall, it can accommodate 300 seated guests and 750 standing. It’s spectacular when lit well. Consider a layered lighting design — uplighting, pin-spotting, and candle clusters — to enhance the mosaics and stained-glass windows and create a warm, modern-classical atmosphere, just perfect for this venue.

3.    Old Sessions House (Clerkenwell Green, EC1R)

With over 18,000 square feet of historic, elegant space available, this former courthouse stands beautifully on an island site in Clerkenwell Green. With the option to make the entire house yours for the day, the venue can accommodate up to 120 guests for dinner or 350 guests for a reception.

Having undergone a full refurbishment, each event space has its own personality and unique architectural details. The Great Room features huge original sash windows overlooking one of London’s oldest public spaces. Dine under the giant chandelier and high ceilings, and after eating, the room can be transformed into an amazing dance space to carry on the party.

This is quite an eclectic venue, so I’d recommend leaning into the character of each room to create a dynamic guest experience. For example, a refined dinner in The Great Room followed by a lively, atmospheric after-party elsewhere in the house.

4.    10-11 Carlton House Terrace (Carlton House Terrace, SW1Y)

With breathtaking views across St James’s Park, Buckingham Palace and The Mall, this Georgian townhouse can accommodate your civil ceremony, religious celebration or blessing.

Upon entering, you’re immediately struck by the modern interiors and classic period details that give these central London townhouses their unique charm. With a range of event spaces to choose from, the venue is suitable for both intimate gatherings with as few as 10 guests and grand wedding celebrations of up to 125 guests.

If possible, time your photos around the light in St James’s Park. Golden hour here is magical, so I’d recommend building in a quiet moment for portraits on the terrace or in the park just before sunset. This will make for beautifully romantic images without pulling you too far from your guests.

If serving good food and drink is a priority for you, you’ll be pleased to hear the venue’s wonderful catering partners, Searcys, can create delicious seasonal menus for your event.

5.    The Ned (Poultry, EC2R)

Situated in the heart of the City, in the former Midland Bank headquarters, The Ned houses a Ned’s Club (a private members’ space, gym and rooftop) alongside a public spa, ten restaurants and bars, and 250 hotel bedrooms.

With the ability to accommodate up to 180 guests, weddings at The Ned take place on the historic sixth floor, which has six rooms and two outdoor terraces with views across London. As well as accommodating your ceremony, drinks reception and dinner, you’ll have plenty of extra space. Consider how you want your celebration to flow and assign each room a purpose. For example, cocktails, dancing, entertainment, and even childcare. This way, the entire floor becomes your own private celebration suite. Guests will love discovering each space throughout the evening.

As an added bonus, The Ned’s Club Spa is just a lift ride away, offering manicures, pedicures and facials. There’s Ned’s Barbershop and Parlour for hair services too. As newlyweds, you’ll spend your first night together in the Terrace Suite, with arched windows, a four-poster king-size bed, and your own private terrace. Heaven!
