I’m Val, Director and Head Planner at Benessamy. Together with my team, I specialise in creating seamless, elevated weddings and luxury celebrations for discerning couples and private hosts who value authenticity, quality and an exceptional guest experience.
Our clients often lead busy professional lives. They want a celebration that is beautifully designed and expertly managed — without stress, overwhelm or endless decision-making. Our role is to bring clarity, confidence and calm, allowing you to enjoy both the planning process and the celebration itself.
Before founding Benessamy, I spent several years working as a solicitor and in corporate affairs, delivering high-profile events, ministerial visits and royal engagements. This background instilled in me an exceptional level of organisation, discretion and confidence managing complex logistics at the highest level.
The moment that sparked my wedding planning career, however, was far more personal.
When my brother and sister-in-law married in Barbados and a few elements didn’t go to plan, I stepped in to help coordinate their day — and instantly knew I had found something I truly loved. That experience led me to retrain with the UK Alliance of Wedding Planners (UKAWP), launch Benessamy in 2011, and later become both a Regional Ambassador and Elite Member.
Benessamy takes its name from my two children, Ben and Jessamy — with Jessamy also being my mother’s maiden name. It’s a constant reminder that at the heart of everything we do are family, care and connection.
With over 15 years’ experience planning weddings and events, we leave no detail untouched. Our focus is not only on delivering exceptional celebrations, but on ensuring the journey towards them feels exciting, supported and genuinely joyful — exactly as it should.
Our work has been recognised nationally, including being Highly Commended at the national finals of The Wedding Industry Awards and being named Best Wedding Planner in the East Midlands on multiple occasions.
Often regarded as the gold standard for wedding excellence in the UK, these accolades reflect our unwavering commitment to quality, professionalism and care.
I am also proud to be a Judge for The Wedding Industry Awards and a Founding Member of the UK Wedding Association, contributing to the ongoing advancement of standards, integrity and excellence within the wedding industry.

Away from weddings and events, I love spending time with my family, exploring new destinations, and discovering great food and music. I enjoy yoga, long walks in beautiful locations — particularly by the water — and unwinding at a spa whenever I can. Travel is a constant source of inspiration, and my passport is always ready for the next adventure.
