I’m Val, Director and Head Planner, and together with my team, we specialise in creating seamless, elevated weddings and luxury parties for discerning clients who value quality, authenticity and exceptional guest experience.
Before launching Benessamy, I spent years working as a solicitor and in corporate affairs — delivering high-profile events, ministerial visits and royal engagements. This background gave me a strong foundation in organisation, complex logistics and communication at the highest level.
But the moment that sparked the beginning of my wedding planning career came much closer to home.
When my brother and sister-in-law married in Barbados and a few elements didn’t go to plan, I stepped in to help coordinate the day — and I loved every minute. That experience inspired me to retrain with the UK Alliance of Wedding Planners (UKAWP), launch Benessamy in 2011, and eventually become a Regional Ambassador and Elite Member.
Benessamy is named after my two children, Ben and Jessamy and Jessamy is also my mother’s maiden name — a reminder that at the heart of our business is family, care and connection.
With over 15 years experience of planning events, we leave no detail untouched. We work hard to ensure your entire planning experience is enjoyable and exciting – exactly as it should be!
In 2015, we were Highly Commended at the national finals of The Wedding Industry Awards and named Best Wedding Planner in the East Midlands, an award we have won a number of times. This is considered the gold standard for wedding excellence in the UK and it’s an achievement we're deeply proud of. Val is now a Judge for The Wedding Industry Awards.

Away from weddings and events, I love spending time with my family, exploring new destinations, discovering great food and music. I enjoy yoga and taking long walks in beautiful locations, especially beside a stretch of water or near the sea. Relaxing at a spa is one of my favourite ways to completely unwind. I love to travel, and my passport is always ready for whatever adventure you have in mind!
Alongside planning client events, I also provide business coaching and consultancy.
