We can’t quite believe that it’s been just over a year since Vicky and Glen’s beautiful private home marquee wedding - what perfect timing to feature this summer celebration on the blog. Set in the grounds of their magnificent home, Vicky and Glen’s wedding was a true honouring of family, laughter and Northern charm. The day was captured by Nicholas Teal and thanks go to him for all images in this blog.
On the morning of the wedding Vicky and Glen’s home was a hive of activity, and the primary site for everyone to get ready.
Vicky and her bridesmaids had their makeup done by Frankie of Faces by Frankie, and they headed to their local town hall to get married. There were tears and laughter during the ceremony, paving the way for the rest of the day.
After their legal ceremony they decided to have a second occasion back at the house, witnessed by all of their wedding guests. In the garden of the house there is a low, manicured maze with a pergola perched above it, and this is where they chose to say their second set of personalised vows.
With all the guests gathered at the house, Team Benessamy working to put the finishing touches to the marquee and the sun shining, the drinks reception got underway.
Guests were greeted by a prosecco wall and live music by Luke Flear, and they mingled in the wonderful summer weather.
Whilst they chatted, entertainment was provided by magician Luke Howells, whose card tricks and humorous one-liners went down a treat. We think it’s a great idea to include some entertainment during your drinks reception, as this is usually a time when you will be heading off as a couple with your photographer to get some photos together. Guests appreciate little breaks in conversation to be wowed, and it provides structure to this part of the day.
When it was time to move into the meal and evening celebration, the atmosphere of this private home marquee wedding got even more exciting. Guests entered the marquee (provided by Simon Bond Events) through a fabulous floral arch by Love Letters 2 Hire, to be greeted by elegant white decor by Ambience Venue Styling. Thoughtful favours had been added to the tables, and Cakes by Leisa provided a beauiful cake which took pride of place next to the top table. Baba Ganoush Catering served up the wedding meal, and there were several speeches throughout. The speeches were the perfect blend of funny, emotional and heartfelt, and it was clear just how important family is to Vicky, Glen and their guests. There was barely a dry eye in the house, but whether from laughter or crying was indiscernible!
Once the evening got underway, the wonderful Mambo Mobile Bars ensured the drinks were flowing. Music was provided by The Monks, and this was the first wedding I’ve ever worked on where the dancefloor was full during the sound check! After Vicky and Glen’s first dance everyone returned to the floor. It’s always heartwarming to see everybody come together in something as joyful as dancing at a wedding! As the evening wore on, guests were able to help themselves to blankets placed around the garden, which is one of our top tips for making your guests feel extra special. Anticipating the needs of your family and friends and considering their comfort goes a long way. Find out how else you can make them feel completely looked after here.
It was a real pleasure to help Vicky and Glen curate their private home marquee wedding, and an even bigger joy to see them get married and celebrate with their loved ones. Here’s what Vicky said about working with us:
‘Working in America, we knew we were going to need someone to help us plan the big event at home. Val oozes confidence and has a wonderful calmness.
Val gave thoughts and ideas of additional services that could help the day flow more nicely, and when the entertainment that had been booked fell through she instantly put us in touch with more.
Val became an extension of my family, my friend, and after the day I really missed hearing from her - she had become so important to me over the many months’ run up to the wedding. I am forever grateful to her for her network of connections, her kindness and for making my day the best day in my entire life.
I couldn’t recommend her enough…get ready for the 5 year anniversary party!’
