How to Get the Most Out of Your Wedding Planner

wedding planners at work

You’ve read all the advice and you’re pretty sure you want to hire a wedding planner. Not only is it a significant investment, but it’s also a deeply personal one. You’re going to be working closely with someone during a particularly special time of your life. The result is going to be a day you’ll never forget. So, how do you get the most out of this partnership? As a wedding planner myself, here’s my advice…

Work With Them Early On

At Benessamy, we’ll step in whenever you need us, but working together from the very beginning of your wedding planning journey is the best way to maximise your investment. There are so many things we can assist with in the early stages, from budget planning and venue searches to selecting suppliers and reviewing contracts. Don’t wait until wedding planning starts to feel overwhelming. Instead, limit the potential for stress from the outset.

Communicate Clearly

Working with a wedding planner should be a collaborative process. We’re happy to do all the heavy lifting on your behalf, but we’ll be able to do a better job if you communicate clearly. What are your priorities? What do you want to avoid? What’s your overall vision? If you’re struggling to figure out what you want, tell us. We’ll be happy to run through different options, outline pros and cons and guide you towards the perfect solution.

Mine Them for Advice

Wedding planners usually have years of experience and masses of knowledge to share. As well as hands-on help, this is what you’re investing in, so don’t forget to invite our input and ask questions. I guarantee we’ll be able to offer plenty of valuable advice.

Trust the Experts

Hopefully, deciding to work with a wedding planner means you trust them to do a good job. You should always listen to your own instincts and advocate for what you want, but if a wedding planner advises against something or suggests an alternative, it’s important to trust their expertise. Perhaps they’ve learned a few lessons the hard way or simply planned enough weddings to know what will and won’t work in certain situations.

Use The Suppliers They Recommend

Take it from me, a wedding planner’s little black book of recommended suppliers is worth its weight in gold! At Benessamy, we have extremely high expectations and demand the very best from the suppliers we work with. We will only ever recommend suppliers and venues we know and trust. If we say they’re the best, book them!

Whether you’re getting married in the UK or overseas, Benessamy can help! Discover our Wedding Planning Services or get in touch to arrange a consultation. In the meantime, take a look at the other posts in this series:
