I bought a copy of Style Me Vintage Weddings a few weeks ago (as soon as it became available - I just couldn't wait!!). I expected the book to be fabulous but with it's walk through the decades covering fashion, beauty, decor and details and gorgeous real weddings, it has exceeded my expectations.
As a big fan and regular reader of Love My Dress I was thrilled to receive an invitation to the launch. In the days leading up to the event, the social media excitement started to build and it soon became clear that I would have the opportunity to see and meet lots of fabulous wedding industry friends and contacts who would also be attending. On Twitter and Instagram, #smvwed was followed by lots of 'what to wear', 'outfit has arrived', 'can't wait to meet you' tweets and photos!
The dress code for evening was "Glamorous" and as I took my daughter (and mini fashionista) with me as my guest (she's planning to study Fashion Design at Uni) we had "such fun" planning and shopping for our outfits - including these gorgeous shoes!
Travelling across London during the early evening commuter time slot we found ourselves on an overground train to Shoreditch High Street, dressed to the nines with commuters wondering "where are they going in those heels?!"
Me with my daughter.
As the train pulled in, we took a last look at our lippy and stepped off the train to find a few other #smvwed bound peeps including my UKAWP colleague the lovely Andri from Always Andri, photographer Fiona Kelly and Amelia of Miss Vintage Wedding Fair. A short walk from the station we arrived at Corbet Place within The Old Truman Brewery, the venue for the evening. We were greeted by another UKAWP colleague, the lovely Melanie of Cranberry Blue Weddings who was the event planner for this fabulous launch.
To summarise what we saw and experienced on the night....
Delicious canapés served in the most fabulous way..
Yemi Osunkoya of Kosibah in top hat splendour in the photobooth.
I really enjoyed meeting lots of lovely people in the wedding industry during the evening, many of whom I had previously connected with via social media but had not yet had the pleasure of meeting.
Me and my daughter enjoying the Photo Emporium photobooth!
.........and treats to take home!
(Photos captured by me of the goody bag which included a delicious little cake from Restoration Cake - red velvet - one of my favourites!)
You can see more photographs from the evening and a full list of credits for the talented team behind the event over on Love My Dress. You can also see lots more of the fun photobooth photos with various guests captured by Photo Emporium.
If you're planning a vintage wedding and your looking for Edwardian, 1920s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s or 1970s inspiration, or just fancy reading a gorgeous book, treat yourself to a copy of Style Me Vintage Weddings.
Until next time,
After another fabulous year of client weddings and events, we're counting down to Christmas and preparing for our Christmas and New Year break, but first.......
