Are you looking for natural photos of you and a loved one but feel totally awkward when someone points a camera at you? Well you may just be interested in a Beloved photoshoot which is now being offered by Lumiere Photography. Here's Alix from Lumiere to tell you more about Beloved with some lovely Beloved images she captured at Whatton Gardens.
So how can you get photos of you where you show your softness, your only-for-my-closest-loved-ones face?
In a way, it’s obvious: it’s when the focus (excuse the pun!) isn’t on the photography but on the interaction, on the emotions you share with your partner, your kids, your family. When the session is about having fun and celebrating the relationship, your memories, hopes, your love. Basically how you are when there is no stress, no 'To Do' list - just precious quality time and space to be.
Don’t you sometimes wish there was a photographer there, just when the kids are having such a madly happy time that your cheeks hurt from watching them or when he told you how he felt about you, so many precious, intimate, authentic moments, and nobody to capture them. I have shot a birth, a live proposal and some sadder but just as important moments, but even with all my goodwill I can’t always be with you, so what we do is create moments where the interactions are authentic, so the expressions are natural, open hearted, full of life and emotions.
This method has a name, it’s called Beloved and it’s not static, it’s adapted to each couple and family. I have discovered it recently and am so buzzing about it.
We start “talking” by email and I ask you to prepare some things- questions to answer etc. to help me to get to know you better. When we meet I invite you to play some games, share some things with each other. It starts very light hearted and fun and slowly goes into deeper emotions when you feel ready for it, and while we explore the setting chosen for the shoot. As the photographer I am your witness, I don’t hear what you say to each other necessarily, I am near you but you will also forget I’m here.
I’ve always “shot from the heart” (Joe Buissink) but this is a way to capture your heart too. I will be writing more about Beloved as I carry on exploring so please get in touch if you have a relationship you want to celebrate.
