Wedding Venues in Leicestershire - Prestwold Hall

Today, I’m kicking off a new blog series sharing some of the amazing venues I’m lucky enough to visit, explore, and work with. Prestwold Hall is a stunning Grade I listed stately home in the heart of Leicestershire Wolds.

I recently assisted the venue, providing consultancy services and organising a styled shoot, private dinner, and tour for wedding planners. Having worked closely with them, I can confidently recommend the incredible in-house team. The venue owners are also lovely and their bespoke, customised approach to weddings and events is exactly what I look for when helping clients find the perfect setting for their celebration.

A Little History…

Prestwold Hall has been the seat of the Packe family for over 360 years since it was acquired by Sir Christopher Packe in 1649, shortly after the death of Charles I. In the 1760s, Charles James Packe rebuilt the Hall and created the park around it.

Five years after Charles William Packe inherited Prestwold in 1837, the house was largely remodelled by Scottish architect, William Burn. One of his earliest English commissions, it is widely regarded as Burn's finest building in the neoclassical style.

The interior of the house is celebrated for its exceptional marbled plaster work in the Italian style. There’s also a notable collection of twentieth-century portraiture and eighteenth-century English and European furniture.

The gardens are stunning and look out across beautiful parkland. Standing above shrubbery to the west of the house is the medieval parish church of St Andrew's.

Weddings at Prestwold Hall

Prestwold Hall is only available for exclusive hire, guaranteeing privacy and seclusion. If you’d like to extend your wedding over a longer period, they also offer a limited number of dates for ‘Deluxe Weekend Celebrations’.

The venue is truly beautiful inside and out. There are three ceremony locations to choose from – in the House, outside in the Georgian Gazebo, or in the Church. Whichever you choose, the elegant rooms and rose garden will provide a distinctive backdrop to your wedding.

There are also 10 gorgeous bedrooms and a cosy sitting room, the latter being ideal for late night refreshments if you have guests staying overnight.

Food is a central part of any celebration and the fare on offer at Prestwold Hall doesn’t disappoint! Head Chef, Marcus Lockwood, provides his culinary expertise and imagination, giving you freedom of choice to design your dream menu. Featuring the finest ingredients and delicious seasonal produce, Marcus’s food has been delighting wedding guests for over 15 years. For your evening celebration, there’s also a tempting array of casual dining options, including street food, BBQs and sourdough pizzas made on a wood fired pizza oven.
