How to Save Money on Your Wedding Flowers

how to save money on your wedding flowers

Flowers are such a big part of the wedding day and it’s hard to see how you would do without them. So how do you work the wedding florals without breaking the bank?

Go Seasonal

This is the golden rule of saving money on your flowers (and food for that matter), and can seriously save hundreds of pounds.

Though unfortunately it does mean a little compromise. If you’re getting married in August but you’re obsessed with ranunculus, you’re going to be paying a premium since this particular flower is in season in Spring. Going for an in-season flower, or all-season flowers like roses or freesias, will make a huge difference to your budget.

Streamline Your Design

A few stunning single blooms surrounded by inexpensive herbs and foliage can still look stunning, and cut down on your cost per stem. Especially if you have your bridal sights on an expensive flower like peonies or lilies.

Work the Alternative

Bridesmaids Flowers

Depending on how many bridesmaids you’re having, the flower cost can really rack up. Consider looking around for some fun alternatives to bridesmaid bouquets like silk flowers, paper pinwheels or a small wrist corsage. Even a single statement flower instead of a bouquet could cut that cost way down.

For centrepieces, look at options which will give you a lot of bang for your buck. Large puffs of inexpensive baby’s breath in a tall arrangement can look truly dramatic. And you can never underestimate the power of candles!

Double Up

Look at where you can pair up your flower options to save money. Re-use some of your arrangements in the ceremony as well as the reception. Use gorgeous pot plants for your centrepieces and later give them away as gifts to your attendants.

So yes, brides and grooms, it can be done. You can save money on your florals and still get the wow factor, if you’re willing to think a little outside the square vase.

Until next time.....
