Getting Married in Saint Lucia - What You Need to Know

Saint Lucia provides such a wonderful location for couples planning a destination wedding in the Caribbean. From romantic couples resorts to places where your guests with families will be welcomed and wonderfully provided for.

As well as its beautiful sunset beaches it has the most amazing lush rainforest and the breathtaking backdrop provided by the Pitons. What struck me the most when I visited was that the island is a perfect location for a twin centre/twin resort break. You could spend time in the north of the island to experience sights such as The Pigeon Island National Park, Rodney Bay and Castries. Before travelling then down towards the south to experience the fabulous Sulphur Springs in Soufriere and to view the magnificent Piton Mountain Range. No matter where you decide to stay on the island, you will, I’m sure experience beautiful, breathtaking scenery.

Getting Married in Saint Lucia

Getting married in Saint Lucia is made easy by the fact that there is no residency period. So you could get married shortly after you arrive on the island (although I would suggest having at least a couple of days before your ceremony to climatise first).

You can apply for a marriage license two days before the date of your ceremony (or on the same day subject to a slightly higher fee). You’ll need to produce the usual standard documentation including your passport, birth certificate, decree absolute (if one of you is divorced), a deed poll (if a name has been changed), plus some additional documents that may be required.

In terms of wedding locations, you have so much to choose from - stunning beaches, waterfalls, botanical gardens, mountain tops, churches and historical parks.

Until next time,

Happy planning!
