Top 7 Tips For Looking After Your Skin On A Long Haul Flight

Great advice from professional make up artist Sheelagh Powell to help with your long haul honeymoon flight.

Top 7 Tips for looking after your skin on a long haul flight

You've just got married and now you're off on your honeymoon. Very exciting! If you have a long haul journey ahead of you, this is not the time to forget all you've learnt about caring for your skin. So, here's professional make up artist Sheelagh Powell with her top 7 tips for looking after your skin whilst en route.

1. Remove makeup

First things first: that makeup has to come off. We promise your neighbour for the next dozen hours or so won't care, let alone notice!

2. Mist

After removing make-up, give your face a few good spritzes with a facial spray (I recommend the NaPCA Moisture Mist from Nu Skin at just £13.00). This will add an extra layer of hydration and act as a barrier between your face and all of that nasty recycled air. Decant some into a small bottle for your flight and off you go!

3. Put On A Mask

Bring a sample of your favourite mask on board—it will be the perfect amount. Kind of brings new meaning to the phrase "beauty sleep," right? I would use the Creamy Hydrating Mask from Nu Skin £24.50. I can make up sample pots for just £3!

4. Hydrate

Now that your face is feeling hydrated, we encourage you to do the same with the rest of your, ahem, person. Skip coffee and soft drinks in favour of herbal tea, water, and electrolyte-replenishing beverages and try to avoid alcohol, though we know first-hand how tempting those mini-bottles of liquor can be for nervous flyers.

5. Get some shut-eye

While you're waiting at your gate, calculate the best time to get in some sleep—and how much—in an effort to ward off jet lag. Not only will this have you feeling more alert and remarkably less zombie-like upon landing, but you'll also look better.

6. Apply a Hydrating Face Oil

Should you find yourself all bright-eyed and bushy-tailed with another five hours to go, we recommend skipping another mask in favour of a layer of face oil. Don't be scared of slathering yourself with this stuff, regardless of your skin type. Face oils work to add pure moisture back into your skin, rebalancing your skin's modes of oil production and making you look less slick. With clean hands, apply a liberal helping of oil, concentrating on your cheeks, forehead, and chin, making sure to gently massage it into your skin.

7. Get Fresh-Faced

Once your destination is (finally) only an hour or so away, its game time. Mist and wipe down your face one last time to prep your skin, and apply a little moisturiser.

I hope this helps you turn up to that fabulous beach resort looking radiant & feeling refreshed!
