Planning a destination wedding isn’t easy. Whether you’re heading to the Caribbean, jetting off to Tuscany or popping to Paris for the weekend, there’s a lot to organise before you can even think about saying ‘I do’.

Having already shared some expert advice for planning a destination wedding, today I’m back with five more top tips to help you create the wedding of your dreams, anywhere in the world.
However much you love a location, there’s no point making plans if the local hotels can’t accommodate your friends and family. Keep logistics as simple as possible and remember to check room availability before you set a date.
If possible, it’s a good idea to visit your venue prior to booking and again 3-4 months before the wedding. Venue recce visits are something we can do on your behalf as part of our destination wedding planning service. If a visit isn't feasible, I’d recommend arriving 3-5 days early to finalise details, make last-minute decisions and, if necessary, squeeze in a hair and makeup trial.
Why not embrace everything your chosen destination has to offer? Incorporate local flowers into your décor, serve local cuisine at your reception and stock the bar with local beer and wine. As well as potentially saving you money, your wedding will feel wonderfully authentic and true to its location.
If you decide to work with wedding professionals who are not based in the country of your chosen location, remember to factor their travel and accommodation into your budget. Agree these costs upfront, so you know exactly where you stand well in advance.
When it comes to travelling with your wedding dress, carry-on is definitely the way to go. You can read more dos and don’ts for transporting your destination wedding dress here.
Until next time,
Happy planning!
